Ashely & Jason 1(Blog)Ashley & Jason 2(Blog)Wrightsville Beach locals Ashley and Jason didn’t have to look far to find the perfect location for their wedding. The Holiday Inn Supree proved to be the perfect spot; close to home, oceanfront and large enough to accommodate 150 of their closest friends and family. Ashley & Jason 3(Blog)Favorite moments included the mothers each sharing special readings and “Best Dog” Sailor delivering the wedding rings to the bride and groom.

imageThis is now officially my favorite first kiss of the year! IMG_3049blogAfter sharing heartfelt vows, which included the groom promising to retrieve items from the top shelf, the ring bearer brought forward a stepstool and placed it in between the couple. As the officiate pronounced them husband and wife, Vanessa stepped onto the stool and the crowdimage copy 2Blog began to chuckle. Even with an extra lift they were still inches apart, however what followed was a kiss, which literally swept this bride off her feet.

IMG_0442blogMeredith and Doug introduced me to a new vendorIMG_0395 which I think is worth mentioning to any bride considering a Topsail Beach wedding. The St. Regis Resort offers condo style one, two and three bedroom suites with many amenities. On the very top of the center building is The Atlantis Restaurant, an ocean front venue which lends itself well to wedding receptions. You can actually see IMG_0402-blogBest of all, even at high tide there is plenty of beachfront (which is not the case at many other locations on Topsail Island).

Barb & Jan Michael Blog 1I couldn’t have asked for better weather for Barb and Jan-Michael’s Fort Fisher wedding which drew Barb & Jan Michael Blog 2about 100 guests and 2 dolphins. The couple decided to break with tradition opting for a first look and pictures with their wedding party prior to the ceremony amongst the live oaks (across from the Fort Fisher museum). When the photos were finished, we gathered the wedding party by the gazebo and hid Barb and her father in a vehicle near by in preparation Barb & Jan Michael Blog 3for her 2nd grand entrance of the day. At the bride’s request, we added starfish to the back of each chair and I have to admit I liked it so much that I decided to add it as an option for future brides.

IMG_0117_edited-1(Blog)Weddings are usually full of IMG_0045_edited-1(Blog)emotion, but this one was particularly heartfelt. There were lots of tears, hugs and smiles shared by all as the bride made her entrance escorted by her sister.

Sunny honored the memory of her parents by affixing a small picture locket to the front of her bouquet and was presented by her aunt and uncle who gave her away on behalf of her mother and father. IMG_0115_(Blog)

It was a sweet ceremony performed by the groom’s “Uncle Bud” a practicing pastor from western, NC. The ceremony was followed by a jovial exit to “An Ever Lasing Love” by Natalie Cole and a reception full of dancing and smiles.

IMG_9999_edited-2Saturday’s wedding drew quite a crowd. IMG_9983 Hotel guests lined the boardwalk and perched in the hotel balconies for a chance to get a glimpse of the bride.

The couple really wanted to include all five grandparents in the processional, but were concerned that they may have trouble navigating IMG_0020_edited-1 the stairs. So we drove them down to the public access and transported them to the back of the aisle in a beach wheelchair. When it was time for the processional to begin, each grandparent was escorted down the aisle by one of the bride’s brothers. How sweet is that!
